NEW PATIENTS
Why Cannabis Health
Our mission is to provide patients with safe access to the products they need. We work closely with officials, health experts and South Dakota partners to ensure high quality regulatory compliance.
PATIENT RESOURCES
We’re here to help new patients with any questions that arise. See the resources below for information about becoming a medical patient, safe storage, and dosing.
How to become a patient
To be a Cannabis Health patient, you must hold a current Registry Identification Card (RIC). You can apply for a cannabis card by schedule an appointment with a practitioner. If you qualify, you will receive an email to create an account so a certification can be issued to you via South Dakota Department of Health’s online portal. When the Department approves the card, it will be mailed to you.
For more information about this process please visit the South Dakota Medical Cannabis Patient Forms Page.
Once your card is obtained, please visit the Cannabis Health store with your RIC and a current photo ID during business hours to begin the process of becoming a new patient.
Safe Storage
Just like other medications, it is important to store cannabis safely and securely. This ensures that only the patient or caregiver will have access, keeping it out of reach of children or pets. Proper storage also helps prevent mold and bacteria growth on your products.
Cannabis should be stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. A clearly labeled, child-resistant container or lockbox will help prevent accidental cannabis poisoning.

Dosing
Individual responses to medical cannabis can vary. When it comes to dosage, it is important to start low and work your way up slowly. You can find more information about correct dosages by product, incrementally adjusting dosages and different factors that may affect these on the Weedmaps website.
